Logistics
  • While Nigeria is the Africa’s biggest country and economy, it isn’t connected enough to the rest of the world with only 55 airports[1] of whom 44 have paved runways (the 88th country in the world). Nigeria is also an important oil and gas producer and has in the country 4,045 km kilometers of pipeline for gas, 4 441 kilometers of pipeline[2] for oil and 3 940 kilometers of pipeline for refined products.
  • The transport by railways is important in Nigeria compared to the rest of Africa as an heritage from the British colonization (3 790 kilometers) and there are 193 200 kilometers of roadways. The waterways network is also important with 8 600 kilometers of waterways mostly on the Niger River.
  • Ports are major keys for Nigeria as exportation is important for the economy of the country, the most important ports are: Bonny Inshore Terminal, Calabar, Lagos.

Communications
  • It’s now well known that Africa is oriented to the communications. Development in the Nigeria telecommunications sector shows overall positive growth garnered by entry of several operators in the market space, additional services such as SMS messaging, lower tariff rates for longer call durations and most especially exponential increase of subscribers lines over the years. The industry has attained measurable progress along these parameters followed by the successful activation of over 139 million lines[3] in the country.
  • Nigeria is also well deserved regarding the internet with 97 millions of users[4] (53,7% of the population), it is the 9th country for the access to internet.
  • As for medias. Nigeria has nearly 70 federal government-controlled national and regional TV stations; all 36 states operate TV stations; several private TV stations operational; cable and satellite TV subscription services are available; network of federal government-controlled national, regional, and state radio stations; roughly 40 state government-owned radio stations typically carry their own programs except for news broadcasts; about 20 private radio stations; transmissions of international broadcasters are available (2007)
